For each Club Championship race, awards will be given (subject to the attendance criteria discussed below) to the top three males and the top three females (or, for multisport events, open and female categories).  For the running races, awards are also given to the age group winners (from MV35 and FV35 upwards in 5 year age groups).  Members can only win one award per race, so if you are in the top three then you are excluded from the age group awards. 

For running races, the awards are calculated using the first past the post system (ie gun to chip times) where possible.  For multisport events the awards are calculated using chip times where available.

The marathon awards will be based on the member's fastest chip time in any measured marathon.  Members who are in the top three are excluded from the age group awards, but you can win more than one age group award in the same Awards Year if you set the fastest time in two different age groups.

The Awards Year runs from the Monday after the 1st Sunday in December to the following 1st Sunday in December (so from 8 December 2025 to 6 December 2026 inclusive for 2026).

To qualify for an award:

• you must be a fully paid-up member at the time of the race;
• you must wear Club kit.  For running events, this means an official Bedford Harriers racing vest or t-shirt, being gold with a diagonal black stripe.  Current exceptions are the London Marathon (where kit representing a charity may be worn) and when the member is representing their country (where national kit may be worn).  For multisport events, it can be running or triathlon kit: where appropriate, this requirement will be deemed to be met if the competitor is wearing Club kit when they finish;
• you must be shown on the official results lists as a Bedford Harrier (unless, for example, the results list does not show UK club names);
• the results must be shown on your Runners Page before the published deadlines.  

For multisport events, awards for open and female categories will be given as follows, based on the number of finishers in each category:

• If there are up to three finishers, an award will be given only to first place;
• If there are four or five finishers, awards will be given to first and second places;
• if there are more than five finishers, awards will be given to the top three finishers.
