Bedford Harriers AC currently has 3 Club Welfare Officers - Elaine Massie, Ian Sturdgess and Helen Whiting.

Safeguarding Statement

The purpose of this statement is to demonstrate the commitment of Bedford Harriers Athletic Club (“the Club”) to safeguard its Members and to ensure that everyone involved in the Club is aware of:

  • The legislation, policy and procedures for safeguarding adults and children.
  • Their role and responsibility for safeguarding adults and children.
  • What to do or who to speak to if they have a concern relating to the welfare or wellbeing of an adult within the Club.

The Club is affiliated to the following governing bodies:

  • England Athletics (EA)
  • Association of Running Clubs (ARC)
  • British Triathlon Federation (BTF)

One of the conditions of EA affiliation is that the Club must adopt EA’s safeguarding policy.  Adopting this policy should also ensure compliance with both ARC and BTF requirements.  Links to the relevant policies and procedures are shown below.
